It's December. The time of year where we go into "crazy mode" for a brief time to:
- Shop frantically for gifts that receivers won't remember in 1-2 months
- Attend as many parties as possible in a 25-day span
- Decorate the inside and outside of the house only to receive a late Christmas present from the utility company
- Eat and drink what the normal person would take 3-4 months to consume. only to have to work for 3-4 months to remove unwanted weight
Don't get me wrong. I love this time of year. I love everything about it...gathering with family and friends, the light-hearted conversations, the warm music, the lights, the decorations. A wonderful time of the year for many. Then it struck me as I was sitting at Saddleback this weekend and Rick Warren talked about a tradition in his family. What gift are you giving to Jesus this year? Wow! We are so busy being "caught up" in the season that we forget what Christmas is all about.
Several years ago, we designed a shirt called (CHRIST)MAS, which puts the emphasis on CHRIST, the one we are to celebrate. He's the reason for this season and NO OTHER! It's fun to wear because it opens up so many wonderful conversations about why we celebrate the birth of the Savior and it does so in a non-threatening way.
We took off our "work hats" recently and did something that was fun...had a talented local girls band, Yours Truly, create a little jingle for the (CHRIST)MAS season! Talented, cute, loving girls!
Thank you Yours Truly....for helping us encourage others to put (CHRIST) back in (CHRIST)MAS!
