Grateful

Now is the season to be grateful, to show thanksgiving for all that we have and all that we have received. As we gather with family and friends this season we should ponder on the many blessings that we have in our country. Men and women give their lives each day in devotion to this country and in devotion to you; so that you are able to enjoy freedom and liberty. As you spend time with your friends and family during this holiday season, remember those that are separated from their loved ones. As you gather around the table, I encourage you to take time and reflect on the things that fill your heart with gratitude. What in your life are you grateful for? Your family? Your friends? Your job? Your freedom? Your health?  How do you express your gratitude? Give a gift? Invest your time?

What step will you take to show your thanks?

Here’s a great gift idea and a great way to express your gratitude!

Healing while Standing Strong

Technology sure seems to make life easier for us these days doesn't it?  Thanks to the advances, it's possible to get answers INSTANTLY!  Just check out your device!  BAM!  Yet, when illness comes knocking at the door (be it physical or emotional), "instant" doesn't always happen.  If you are like me...You want answers.  You want medication or drugs to cure.  You want healing. You want it NOW!

In the past year alone, so many close family and friends have been affected by disease and mental illness.  Every day, another person succumbs and hits the "not-so-fun" ride of watching a loved one struggle.  Today is no different.

While sometimes the journey is gut-wrenching, we need to be quiet and listen to the ONE who can heal, The Great Physician.  Today, I was humbled and reminded how sometimes, even when we try to "fix" things....only God can!  It's an uncomfortable place to be when you are a "fixer."  He takes us to a place where we have no other choice other than to get on our knees and ASK for healing.

A few years back, we created several designs that speak to ALL who need healing.  "By His Stripes," based on Isaiah 53:5, is a great reminder that  "He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by his wounds we are healed."  Another one, "Strong & Courageous," from Joshua 1:9 says, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

So....with the Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays fast approaching, instead of wearing that regular "Old Navy" tee, maybe consider wearing a red, white & blue of a different nature....one that promotes what we all need:  Healing & Courage.

His blood & His strength sustain!

Truly living for an Audience of One

Often times in life we find ourselves attending all kinds parties.  But, there is one party that many of us attend on a regular basis....one that goes hand-in-hand with complaining.....a Pity Party. "It's not fair.....life's "done me wrong"....and so the story goes.

Last night at Saddleback Church (our home church), we were blessed with an amazing guest speaker who has EVERY RIGHT to attend this type of party, but he doesn't.  His name is Nick Vijucic (www.lifewithoutlimbs.org).  What an amazing man of God!  Nick, who was born without limbs, inspired us all to Stand Strong....Then Run!  As I sat and listened, I no longer saw a man without limbs, I experienced an authentic, funny, strong and God-centered man who is using his disability of not having arms and legs, to reach one more for Jesus.  This guy is the real deal. Nick is a man on a mission and a man with a purpose who will not stop!.  This guy is running to spread the word of God's love in this chaotic and broken world, to anyone who will listen.  His story is compelling, but his authenticity and TRUE relationship with God is inspiring!

Nick so carefully and eloquently conveyed that all of the fame, money, position, power...you name it...will NEVER, EVER satisfy us the way only God can with His love for us!  Satan is a real power in this world.  He's not going to stop until he destroys our families, our children, our homes, our relationships....you name it!  He will not stop until he separates us from God's love.  Nick encourages us to start every day in His Word, put on the Armour of God and remember His many promises!  If not, you will battle this beast on your own and you are NO MATCH!

We received this picture a while back of Nick, while in route to one of his many speaking engagements, clearing security.  He's wearing one of our shirts, "Audience of One."  He's a guy that permeates a strong and genuine relationship with our creator.  He lives each day, moment by moment, to give honor and credit where it's deserved, to His Savior, Jesus Christ.  Will you live for an "Audience of One?"

Drumming to the beat of a Higher Power

Not many people can make claims of playing a mean set of drums, getting endorsements for major instrument manufacturers or appearing on TV at a relatively young age (4) like Cole Marcus. This kid (left) is now 14 and has a heart not only for playing the drums, but one that serves the Lord too!

Cole (BTW, great name, just like our son!), has aspired to be so much more in this life than most of us will achieve in a lifetime!  This kid finds time to not only hang with his friends, he makes time to serve in a variety of ways, including playing the keyboards and drums for his church's youth ministry!  Using his God-given talent to share his faith with others!

Cole has a repertoire that is as varied as a color palate.  He's appeared in the "Brave" music video with Josh Groban and can been in a co-staring role with Billy Unger in Disney's sitcom, "Lab Rats."  And....he's not afraid nor ashamed to share his faith, by wearing one of our 1Eighty shirts, GATE!

Keep on drummin' Cole.  God's got his eyes set on you....to continue doing some great and powerful things in this world.  And thanks for supporting and sportin' our shirts!

It's a NEW Dawn, It's a NEW Day, It's a NEW Life!

Michael Buble sings it so well when he magically belts it out in "Feeling Good!"  Lyrics tell a story....the music bed just perfects the story!  Full orchestra...."Birds flying high, you know how I feel!  Sun in the sky, you know how I feel!"

We are EXCITED today and "FEELING GOOD!!"  A few months back, 1Eighty partnered with Duncan Phillips (Newsboys) and NewReleaseTuesday.com.  Together we launched a few new shirts, one in particular, HYPE, and gave away a promotional shirt for NewReleaseTuesday.com.  Together...we were like a band members....bringing it all together with an orchestra, if you will. Sounds so good!

Today we are excited to announce that NewReleaseTuesday.com will begin airing 20 episodes of a mulit-award winning faith and family-friendly reality series featuring The Newsboys, EXCLUSIVELY online at NewReleaseTuesday.com, beginning 4-3-13 at 12:01am.  You don't want to miss it!

What's even cooler?  1Eighty is right there on their website with our HYPE & HOPE shirts, PLUS...For a limited time only, if you purchase a HYPE or HOPE t-shirt, you will receive a NRT shirt FREE!   http://www.newreleasetuesday.com/newsboysshow.php

Feeling Good!  Excited! Beyond Blessed!

What's All the HYPE?

HYPE:  An ingenious or questionable claim.

It all started with a meeting of the minds, well not really.  Three guys getting together at Starbucks in Nashville to catch up.  Who would have thought that a simple conversation I had with Duncan Phillips of the Newsboys http://www.newsboys.com/ and Colton Dixon from American Idol http://www.coltondixon.com/ would turn into something pretty exciting.  That's what happened.  Today, 1Eighty is partnering with Duncan Phillips and New Release Tuesday (more on them in a minute) to announce our new shirts.....HYPE and HOPE.  But first, a little background.

I met up backstage with Duncan a few years back at Winter Jam 2011 and talked to him about the idea of co-branding a shirt(s) with 1Eighty. First response....sure!  Came up with some ideas.  Put some drawings together,  Tweaked them.  Sold them.  But we were still not there.  Fast-forward.  One thing about Duncan.  He's a guy that likes to have fun on stage.  When he's opening every Newsboys concert, Duncan starts the show by standing up on his drums and shouts through a megaphone, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!  What's the hype all about?  Romans 12:2 puts it simply: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind!"  Say no more.  HYPE was born!

It doesn't end there.  I met up with NewReleaseTuesday.com,  the largest Christian entertainment and music site online, and the "go to" place for new music, videos and books throughout the world!  With over 525,000 monthly visitors, this is the PERFECT opportunity to partner to spread the word of our new partnership with Duncan.

So today, we are happy to feature our four NEW shirts with the signature "SQUIZZ" on each shirt.  What's a SQUIZZ?  It's Duncan's nickname...an Australian term, "just hang out!" You'll find it on the shirts.  And....if you buy one of the new shirts, we'll send you a New Release Tuesday shirt FREE!

So today....HYPE it!

American Idol

I love my job.  And not just because I have a really cool boss!

Over the past few years we have had the opportunity to connect with contestants on American Idol.  (Thanks Leesa B.)  Several contestants have worn our shirts, including Katharine McPhee, Chris Sleigh, Phil Stacey, Colton Dixon, and this year, Josh Holiday.

Even better than watching them perform, has been watching these amazing young men and women of God publicly proclaim their faith.  What a powerful testimony in an industry that often doesn’t acknowledge any type of faith.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” ~Romans 1:16

Live….for an Audience of One!

Happy Heart's Day!

Kids these days crack me up.  Over the last few days I’ve been seeing a lot of posts proclaiming “forever alone.”  I’m assuming this is because Valentine’s Day has been on everyone’s minds.  The funny part is, I’m seeing this from kids anywhere from 10-14 years old.  It might be a little early to proclaim yourself “forever alone.”

Especially because you are really never alone.  So as we celebrate those we “love” with candy and flowers, let us not forget the ultimate expression of unconditional love.

“For God so LOVED the world, He gave His only Son…”  ~John 3:16

“…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~Matthew 28:20’

Today…Love One Another!

Super Sunday!

I’m really looking forward to today’s game.

Although I grew up in Southern Cal, I’ve always been a Redskins fan…so it’s been awhile since I’ve been excited about the big game.  I know.  I know.  No Redskins in this game, but I am a huge David Akers fan.  David is the kicker for the 49ers and an amazing man of God.  David is involved in a number of ministries and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to not only get to know him, but also to call him “friend.”

Today this Redskins fan is adding a little red and gold to the mix.  Go ‘Niners!
